L. James Wilson

Jim Wilson's practice is concentrated in the areas of business law, estate planning and elder law. Since 1980, Jim has advised clients regarding business succession planning, wealth preservation and transfer planning, asset protection, probate and trust administration, business and personal tax planning, charitable and gift tax planning, and real estate law. He has represented clients in all areas of business and corporate law, including formation, structure, governance, management, and the acquisition, merger and sale of closely-held businesses. He has been particularly active in working with clients requiring sophisticated estate planning and arrangements for devolving wealth to future generations. A substantial portion of his practice involves advising clients on liquor law matters.

Mr. Wilson also represents estates, trusts and individuals in probate proceedings in court.

Mr. Wilson has an "AV" rating, the highest available, from Martindale-Hubbell.

He is admitted to practice in the State of Michigan and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Jim has been actively involved over the years in a variety of community, civic, church-related and charitable organizations. He currently sits on the Boards of a number of organizations and foundations, including the Francis P. and Nell A. Rhoades Memorial Foundation, the Christus Medicus Foundation, Birth Choice Pregnancy Resource Center, and the St. Francis Foundation. He also was a founding board member of Simon House, a nonprofit organization serving women and children who are infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS, serving as its President and Chairman of its Board of Directors for many years. Mr. Wilson is also an active member of Orchard Lake Country Club.

Mr. Wilson lives in Royal Oak, Michigan.
